This tour around the Argentinean North West will allow us to discover the highlights of this region by combining a foot crossing thru the heart of the Quebrada de Humahuaca with amazing landscapes.
This adventure will show us what is beyond the regular touristy routes: the original inhabitant, their costumes and more important we’ll get to enjoy the Quebrada.

Day 1 Salta - Airport Salta We welcome you at the Salta Airport and transfer to our accommodation. The rest of the day will be free for us to discover this particular city. Lodging at Hosteria double or single.

Day 2 San Antonio de los Cobres y Salinas Grandes
We depart early on our way to Campo Quijano, going thru the Quebrada Del Toro, and the finally arriving to the pre Hispanic city of Rosa de Tastil with its legendary ruins. Our trip continues to San Antonio de los Cobres, a typical town located at 4000 meters high. Later, thru el Paso de Jama we will be able to appreciate the “Salinas Grandes”; then descending over the path of the Lipan, we’ll make a stop at the town of Pumamarca and its famous Mount of the ‘Los Siete Colores’. Later we arrive to our lodge at the painteresque town of Tilcara. Lodging at Hosteria double or single. Meals we provide: Breakfast
Day 3 Devil’s Throat - Tilcara
We’ll have the morning free to discover the town and its unique things such us: la plaza grande, la plaza chica, the town church - and the Pucará de Tilcara. In the afternoon we’ll do a small trek to the devil’s throat, walking along the old Kollas paths and watching the amazing view. After 3 or 4 hours we finally go back to Tilcara. Day 4 Tilcara - Iruya
During the morning, we will go towards the North in a local Bus to the small town of Iruya, a picturesque village just in the north of Salta.
We will have enough time to go around the town, discovering its beautiful cobbled streets and its typical Cappel. We will spend the night in this fascinating place. Simple Lodging

Day 5 Iruya – San Juan
From Iruya we head North, along the border of the valley; we then Stara climbing towards the Abra de San Juan (“abra” is a very big open space or area). Once there, the trail lead us towards the Meseta de San Juan (“meseta” is a flat top hill). We walk across it towards the town of San Juan, which we reach after 5 to 6 hs hiking. During our walk we can see the beautiful valleys and towns of Iruya, San Isidro and San Juan. Lodging at Semifull Camp

Day 6 San Juan – San Isidro
Today we leave San Juan, gaining altitude and enjoying the beautiful gorges that we keep crossing. We descend to San Isidro river valley that lead us to the town. In total we walk another 5 hs. Simple lodging (family house)

Day 7 San Isidro – Iruya – Huamahuaca
Early in the morning, alter breakfast, we go down along river San Isidro (we will wade it several times). We then climb its border and walk aside the river to the town of Iruya. We take our lunch in town and then get back to Humahuaca. Walking time about 3 hs. Lodging at Hosteria double or single.

Day 8 Humahuaca - Salta Airport
After breakfast we are transferred to the airport where our tours ends

Bilingual guide (Spanish - English) during all the excursions.
4 nights in Hostería it bases double or single with breakfast (1 in Salta, 2 in Tilcara and 1 in Humahuaca)
1 night in Semi - Full Camp (included: tents and dinner tent or saloon. Not included: sleeping bag or insulating mattress)
2 nights in simple lodging (room without private bathroom)

Transfer Salta Airport - Hotel / Hotel - Salta.All transportation as shown in the itinerary combining private and regular buses.
Trekking between Iruya and Rodeo Colorado. (Between the days 5, 6 and 7 we provide Mules for the transportation of the tents, general equipment y food for all the crossing. We will carry the passengers’ luggage up to a maximum of 8 kg

The tour can start in Salta (Argentina) and from there take the bus to San Pedro de Atacama. If this is the case, you will probable need an extra night in Salta.
