This trip offers a unique overview of the Altiplano, deserts and flat salts, as well as the people who have inhabited this area for centuries and its ancient culture. The right combination of excursions and sites we visit, allows us to see the spectacular scenery of Uyuni in Bolivia –the biggest flat salt in the world- and the great Atacama desert in Chile.

Day 1 Airport - Salta

We are greeted at the Salta Airport and transferred to our accommodations. The rest of the day will be free for us to discover this unique city.

Day 2 Salta - San Pedro de Atacama

Early in the morning we take a regular bus to San Pedro de Atacama, through Jama pass (4200 meters above sea level). We arrive in San Pedro in the afternoon and we have free time in this beautiful town.

Day 3 Geysers del Tatio

This day starts quite early in the morning. We will depart before sunrise (4am) in order to go to the TATIO volcano, located 4300 meters over sea level. First thing we’ll do once we arrive is to go to the geothermal field located in the mountain range of Los Andes. Early in the morning this place has an amazing steamy activity because of the high temperatures that are coming up from the craters. The boiling water, the huge columns on steam and the water that runs underneath the surface makes of this, and unforgettable experience.
Here will have breakfast, and then we’ll take a walk and those who want to might take a bath in the warm water (between 25ºC and 30ºC).near the geysers.

Day 4 Salar de Atacama and Altiplanic Lagoons

This day we will visit the Miscanti y Miñique lagoons; with its wonderful colours are located over 4000 meters over the level of the sea. On our way to them, we stop at a Toconao, an old town made complete of stone, where the art craft is also well known. Another highlight of this is the “Salar de Atacama” which is over 100 km of extension. We will also appreciate some of the birds and fauna that has manage to survive in one the most desert places of the earth. All this will require from us around 6 hours.

Day 5 San Pedro de Atacama – Lagunas Altiplanicas de Bol

This day, we enter to our fascinating tour through Uyuni salt falt. We depart from San Pedro de Atacama at 8am in regular bus. After inmigration and customs check point we reach the border between Bolivia and Chile. The pass is known as Hito Cajones. Here, we start our trip in 4WD vehicles, finding very curious rock formations produced by countless years of erosion. Our first stop in visit in this desolated area is Green Lagoon with the impresive Licancabur volcano as background. We continue our driving heading to Avaroa Reserved area with its geysers, (volcanic steam springs) and thermal waters. We arrive to Laguna Colorada, where we can appreciate the pink Flemings and major Andean fauna such as vicuña, suri or andean ñandú. We spend the night at a basic refuge.

Day 6 Siloli Desert - Uyuni Salt Flat

After breakfast, to visit the Tree of stone, and desert of Siloli with its lagoons: Cañapa, Hedionda and Ramadita. the altiplanic Lagoons: Cañapa, Hedionda y Ramadita. We arrive to the little town Puerto Chubica at the edge of the Salt Flat. We spend the night in another basic refuge.

Day 7 Uyuni Salt Flat - Uyuni

After breakfast we ride on our 4WD vehicle on salt field. We visit Isla Incahuasi appreciating the huge cactus and an outstanding panoramic from the view point. Then we visit the town of Colchani and its Salt Hotel and continue to Uyuni town. We arrive around 2 pm. We have free time until 10 pm, when we take the train to Villazon (the city at the border with Argentina), arriving at 7 am.

Day 8 La Quiaca – Humahuaca

We welcome you at Villazon train station and tranfer to La Quiaca (Argentina). We take a regular bus to Humahuaca, our next destination. Upon arrival we transfer to our hotel.

Day 9 Free day at Humahuaca.

We spend this day enjoying the colorfoul town of Humahuaca while we prepare our next day starting.

Day 10 Humahuaca – Santa Ana

Alter breakfast by bus we leave Humahuaca to the small town of Santa Ana, crossing the Sub Andean Hills. After noon, we arrived at this beautiful little town. Transfer to accommodation.

Day 11 Santa Ana - Valle Colorado

After breakfast we begin our trek to Valle Colorado through Inca Trail. After half an hour of quiet climb to Abra del Valle arrived at 3.500 m from where we appreciate the hills bordering the province of Salta and around the Valle Grande River valley in Calilegua. From now on the path goes down and we leave the Humahuaca´s Gorge environment, getting the cloud forest. Finally we arrive at Valle Colorado (1900msnm), a small town surrounded by green vegetation contrasting with the red hillsides. Estimated walking time: 6hs.

Day 12 Valle Colorado – Valle Grande – Salta

Second and last day of trekking to Valle Grande. The trail descends the hill slopes, crossing streams, going into the vegetation to reach the largest population in the region. From there, the local transfer brings us to the small town of San Francisco and the PN Calilegua, until you reach the town of Libertador General San Martín. Finally we go to the city of Salta. Estimated walking time: 2hs.

Day 13 Salta - Aeropuerto de Salta

After breakfast we are transferred to the airport where our tour ends.
