Day 3 Vespignani Glacier Viewpoints – El Calafate

After breakfasts our local bus will pick you up to travel the 36 Km that separate us from Lago Del Desierto with a beautiful panoramic route between forests, bordering the Río de las Vueltas. Then, from Punta Sur of Lago del Desierto we sail for about 30 minutes, spotting the Huemul and Crestón glaciers, landing in the Vespignani glacier sector, which is located in the middle of the lake. Once there, you can choose to walk one of the three perctly signed-posted trails of the Glacier Vespignani Reserve according to the difficulty and effort you wish to perform. The responsible person in charge of the activity will supervise your choice for your own safety. The most demanding trail will take us one hour and thirty minutes at a slow pace to overcome the 700 meters of altitude and access to La Mirada del Doctor. A new view of the Glacier, where we can appreciate the beauty and immensity through the lateral moraine of the Glacier. Another trail lasts about 45 minutes at a slow pace to overcome the 150 meters of altitude and access the bottom of the Vespignani glacier with an incredible view of the north face of Fitz Roy Mountain.

As a third option, take us in a slight and constant slope to a significant point with a panoramic view of the glacier, in only 15 minutes. You can also choose or complement the other hikes with the third option, which is the simplest trail that takes you to the wooded área and the coastal reserve without climbing. After a farewell snack, we sail back to Punta Sur . Upon arrival at El Chalten, we take our bus back to El Calafate.

Day 4 Perito Moreno Glacier

We dedicate this day to one of the World’s Natural Wonder: the Moreno glacier. This ice field- type glacier flows down from the Patagonian Icefield, a big sheet of ice that with its 22.000 square kilometers is the third largest glacier area in the world, after Antarctica (14 M sq km) and Greenland (1 M sq km). Because unusual favorable local conditions, this glacier is the only one in the world that shows a closure and rupture process. The road leads to the very front of the glacier, which will be only meters away from your eyes. The roar of the chunks of ice falling inside the glacier or from the glacier into the lake, the frequent collapse of the front seracs into the turquoise water, makes out of this day a very special and unique experience.
In the afternoon we go back to our hotel at El Calafate.
