You get the rest of the day to enjoy the town. Lodging: Lodge Provided meals: None (ID 96) Day 2 El Calafate – El ChalténAfter breakfast we take our bus for the 220 km drive to El Chaltén, a small and picturesque village at the foot of Fitz Roy & Cerro Torre massif. We make a stop half way to enjoy local pastries and hot coffee. Once in Chaltén, we have the afternoon at leisure to explore the village. Lodging: Lodge Provided meals: Breakfast (ID 108) Day 3 Fitz Roy – Laguna de los TreSEarly in the morning, after breakfast, we take the bus upon Hosteria El Pilar where we start hiking to see one of the most spectaculars viewpoints of the National Park: Laguna de los Tres, with its zephyr blue color, lies at the foot of the massif, offering full close up views of Fitz Roy massif spires and glaciers. Each wall raises something from 600 to 1500 mts above the surrounding glaciers. Fitz Roy, with its 3405 mts above sea level, is considered the “King of Patagonia” and also considered one of the three most beautiful mountains on Earth. In the late afternoon, we hike back to our hotel. Lodging: Lodge Provided meals: Breakfast, Box Lunch (ID 122) Day 4 El Chaltén - Cerro Torre trailWe visit today the Torre valley. This valley starts as a glacier valley in the Laguna Torre reaching town as a fluvial valley. Is shorter and with less gain of altitude than Fitz Roy trail. We get to a first viewpoint of the glacier part of the valley after a first hour of walking. Depending on conditions, we will go on to reach the lagoon, natural viewpoint for the group of ice-mushroom-covered spires of Cerro Torre massif. Its blue colour and dimensions are breathtaking. We hike back to El Chaltén in late afternoon. Lodging: Lodge Provided meals: Breakfast, Box Lunch (ID 110) Day 5 El Chalten – El CalafateAfter breakfast we take our bus to El Calafate. When we arrive we have the entire day to visit the city or doing any of the optional excursions. Lodging: Lodge Provided meals: Breakfast (ID 11) Day 6 El Calafate – Perito Moreno GlacierWe dedicate this day to one of the World’s Natural Wonder: the Moreno glacier. This ice field- type glacier flows down from the Patagonian Icefield, a big sheet of ice that with its 22.000 square kilometers is the third largest glacier area in the world, after Antarctica (14 M sq km) and Greenland (1 M sq km). Because unusual favorable local conditions, this glacier is the only one in the world that shows a closure and rupture process. The road leads to the very front of the glacier, which will be only meters away from your eyes. The roar of the chunks of ice falling inside the glacier or from the glacier into the lake, the frequent collapse of the front seracs into the turquoise water, makes out of this day a very special and unique experience. (ID 114) Day 8 El Calafate – UshuaiaAfter breakfast we transfer to El Calafate Airport to take your flight to Ushuaia. Once in Ushuaia we transfer to our hotel, rest of the day is at leisure. Lodging: Lodge Provided meals: Breakfast (ID 123) Day 9 Tierra del Fuego - Tierra Mayor valleyWe drive 17 km towards the Tierra Mayor valley. This area of the Island hosts most of the winter sport resorts of the island because its special geography. We will start our adventure aboard dog sleds pulled by huskies, we shall enter the forest following a trail that leads us to woodcutter’s shelter ( a small log cabin heated only by wood fires). We will say farewell to the Huskies here and strap on our snow shoes (these are essential as the depth of the snow is normally a metre in this area), our objective is the Alvear Ice falls and the Valley outlook. Returning to the shelter will be faster as it is all downhill to the woodcutter’s cabin. Then we drive back to Ushuaia. Lodging: Lodge Provided meals: Breakfast (ID 124) Day 10 Tierra del Fuego National Park and Beagle ChannelThe Island of Tierra del Fuego is divided north to south by the border between Argentina and Chile. In the southwest corner of the Argentinean side is Tierra del Fuego National Park, a place where the forest covered mountains meet the sea. In this spectacular location we will visit Lapataia bay. Lodging: Lodge Provided meals: Breakfast (ID 19) Day 11 Ushuaia – Ushuaia AirportMorning at your own to visit the town, which is located in the north coast of the Beagle channel. The town features interesting museums and its typical architecture. In the afternoon we are transferred to Ushuaia airport to take our flight to Buenos Aires. Our services end at the airport.
