Day 1 Chalten - Lago del desierto - Candelario Mansilla

This is the first day of our trip. Starting from El Chaltén by gravel road, we travel in a vehicle the 37 km that separate us from the Lago del Desierto. This is a beautiful panoramic road, among forests and bordering the Rio de las Vueltas. These first kilometers will take about two hours, depending on the stops and road conditions.
Then, from the pier of Punta Sur, we will sail for about 50 minutes, spotting the Fitz Roy mountain range and the Huemul and Crestón glaciers to disembark at the northern shore of the lake. Here is where the walk begins. We follow a trail with small waterfalls and small mallines until we reach Laguna Larga. The road begins to have a pronounced downhill slope, crossing the Obstaculo River at several points. Finally, we arrive at our campsite in Candelario Mansilla, which offers wonderful views of Lake O'Higgins.
On this day, we cross the border between Argentina and Chile, doing the corresponding procedures in each country.

Day 2 Candelario Mansilla - Valle del Cañadón del Rio Obstáculo - Estancia ventisquero

Early, after breakfast, we prepare ourselves for a very intense day, which will be rewarded with the views of the incredible landscape of these unexplored and wild lands.
From Candelario Mansilla we walk on gravel road for 6 km uphill until we reach a fork that takes us into the Cañadón Valley of the Obstaculo River, where the trail begins. We cross the river and we walk along its left margin, gaining height and crossing bogs until we arrive at a viewpoint that offers magnificent views of the valley. We continue our way between two great mountains, Cerro Colorado to the north and Cerro Vicente to the south and we begin to have the first views of O'Higgins Lake, Chico Lake with the Chico Glacier. Then we go to Estancia Ventisquero, where we spend the night camping.

Day 3 Estancia Ventisquero – Refugio Diablo

This is perhaps one of the most beautiful days of the expedition. Early, after breakfast, we walk south towards the Chico glacier on the eastern margin of the Chico Lake. We continue our march to the Mirador "Piedra Grande", surrounded by a tall forest with views of an unforgettable landscape. We continue on the path crossing abundant streams until we reach the shelter "El Mosquito", from where we deviate from the path to reach the Valley of the Devil and continue walking gradually upward and then down to the Devil's Refuge. We continue walking for 10 minutes, descending until we reach our campsite in a beautiful forest.
